WELCOME TO AMBUYA DAY CARE

Ambuya Day Care is a project run by Jon Hospice's Kara Counselling and is situated in Kamwala South. This project is run under the Prevention, Care and Support Program whose main objective is to provide holistic care and support to chronically/ terminally ill people especially those with infections related to HIV/AIDS. The Day Care is focused on caring for OVC (Orphans and Vulnerable Children) who are infected and affected by HIV/AIDS.

Objectives:

Most adolescent psychiatrists acknowledge that the ideal environment for raising a small child is in the home with both parents and family. Intimate daily and direct parental care of infants for the first several months of life is very important. Because of the devastating impact of HIV/AIDS, this ideal environment is very often not available hence the role of the day care. Day Care plays a significant roll in the development of the child. Jon Hospice Ambuya Day Care Centre provides care facilities for children living with HIV/AIDS. Our main objective is to help enhance the lives of one hundred (100) Orphans and Vulnerable Children living with HIV/AIDS per year. This is done through the services that we offer to the children.

A GLANCE AT THE SERVICES WE OFFER;

Music therapy is a necessary ingredient in building self confidence in the children as they are counseled in a child friendly environment.

Basic Education

Education plays a very important role in every area of life for everyone. In an effort to enhance the lives of these children, the Day Care is providing basic education to these kids and many have been integrated government schools for further education.

Nutrition

The Day Care provides two full meals per day to the kids and they are fed with snacks in between the two meals. This is particularly important because the nutritional value in the food is vital in enhancing their lives.
