Kara Counselling and Training Trust was founded in 1989 by Fr. Michael Kelly SJ, but its legal entity received registration in 1991. KCTT's vision is to work towards 'A society free of suffering where all people take charge of and live long and productive lives in freedom and equality, with Zambia taking its place proudly among the great nations of the world.'
Behind this vision, is the mission 'to promote integrated Human development by providing counseling, training, caring and other related services which respond to the current psychosocial needs in Zambia.' It pioneered in the field of Voluntary Counselling and Testing (VCT) in Zambia and for more than ten years of operation it expanded not only running VCT centers within Lusaka but outside as well and do provide other activities.
